NSATIS Athletics

Despite trying conditions at the North West Athletics centre the 2018 NSATIS Athletics Carnival was completed successfully with all six schools entering huge numbers across all events on both the track and field.  Three records were broken on the day.  St Patrick’s College Girl’s Open 100m sprint sensation Cynthia Echetama broke the long standing record set back in the 80’s running a time of 12.71 seconds.  Marist Regional College U/14 super Athlete Charli Kay broke two records in the javelin (33.59m) and the long jump (4.86m).  Charli was also largely responsible for Marist Regional College taking home the Girls Junior Shield and the Girls U/14 Pennant.

All other shields were won by St Patrick’s College – with students showing their depth across the two divisions in all events.  They took home the Girl’s Senior and Aggregate shields, and all three Boy’s shields and the covetted Co-Ed Aggregate shield.

Ten age group pennants were presented at the conclusion of events – with Grammar (Open Boys and U/15 Girls) and Marist (U/14 Girls) managing to prevent St Patrick’s College from making it a clean sweep.

All events were officiated by a large number of Athletics Tasmania officials from the North West, Launceston and Hobart alongside a huge band of volunteers from participating schools.  The staff and students thank all these people for their support.
