Well another SSATIS netball season has drawn to a close with possibly the best SSATIS netball final ever played on Wednesday night between Guilford Young College and St Marys College at Clarence Sports Stadium.

GYC started the game at an intense pace and led by a significant margin at quarter time with what many would have seen as an insurmountable lead so early in the match.  However, several positional changes from St Marys saw them pile on many unanswered goals in the second quarter with some sensational ball movement and shooting.  This saw the lead reduced to only 4 goals at the half time break.

The Guilford girls regathered for the third quarter but were unable to counter the St Marys attack and the SMC girls finally took the lead for the first time in the match late in the third quarter and went into the final break with a relatively comfortable 3 goal advantage.

In a fabulous fourth quarter it was goal for goal with the GYC team managing to draw level with their opposition with only 2 minutes left on the clock. It was a nail biting final minute of the match and at the final siren the teams could not be separated and finished on 42 apiece.

Extra time was called and both teams formed a huddle to regroup again for two extra 6 minute halves.  At the end of the first half it was GYC who had come out more strongly and took a 4 goal lead.  When the final siren sounded the Guilford girls were victorious leading 57-51.

It was an epic match and all girls must be thoroughly congratulated on their efforts and sportsmanship displayed throughout.

In the second grade final it was Fahan School who emerged victorious over Collegiate 31-15.  A summary of all other netball competitions is listed below.
