The NSATIS Swimming Carnival was conduct on Tuesday 1st March at Launceston Aquatic. Approximately 600 students competed for 10 age group pennants and 7 shields. This year saw the introduction of The Launceston Christian School into the competition which is an exciting inclusion for our Northern Sporting competitions. Details of all results can be found in the attachment below.
Four records were set on the day:
- Jordan Cooper from St Patrick’s College: Boys U/15 50m breaststroke in a time of 34.14
- Kit DeJong from Scotch Oakburn College: Boys Open 100m Freestyle in a time of 55.17
- The St Patrick’s boys U/13 4 x 50m freestyle relay team of Angus Robertson, Jonte Adams, William Hinds and Samuel Foley blitzed the previous record by 4 seconds with a time of 2:02.13.
- The St Brendan Shaw boys Open 4 x 50m freestyle relay team of Max O’Leary, Sam Curtis, Daniel Littler and Max Green set a new mark with a time of 1:43.43.
Age group pennants were spread across schools. St Patrick’s College won the boys U/13, U/14, U/15 and U/16 and the girls U/13 and U/16. Launceston Grammar took home the U/14 girls, Scotch Oakburn College the U/15 and Open girls and finally St Brendan Shaw won the Open boys.
St Patrick’s College repeated their 2015 clean sweep of the shields, again winning all seven shields in a dominant display.
Competitors now head to Hobart Aquatic Centre on Wednesday 16th March to compete against their southern rivals.
