2015 NSATIS Swimming Carnival

A successful NSATIS swimming carnival was held on Tuesday 10th March at Launceston Aquatic Centre.  St Patrick’s College dominated events from the start and managed to make a clean sweep winning all of the Shields on offer:  Junior Boys and Girls, Senior Boys and Girls, Aggregate Boys and Girls and the most coveted shield The Overall Aggregate.  The Age Group pennants were hotly contested with St Patrick’s College taking home the Boys U/13, U/14 & U/15 and the Girls U/13, U/14, U/15 & Open.  Individual pennants went to Launceston Church Grammar collecting the U/16 Girls, St Brendan Shaw College the U/16 Boys and Scotch Oakburn the Open Boys.

 

A total of 10 records were broken on the day.

James Curran (LCGS) in the U/14 50m Freestyle and 50m Backstroke

Ariarne Titmus (SPC) in the U/15 50m and 100m Freestyle

Kit DeJonge (SOC) in the Open 50m Freestyle

Morgan Hawkins (SPC) in the Open 50m Breaststroke

Freya Jetson (LCGS) in the U/16 50m Butterfly

Scotch Oakburn boys dominated the Open relays – breaking both the 4 x 50m Freestyle (Kit DeJonge, Angus O’Toole, Harry Scott & Tom Birchmore) and the 4 x 50m Medley (Kit DeJonge, Angus O’Toole, Harry Scott & Anthony Jacob)

The U/16 St Brendan Shaw Boys broke the 4 x 50m Relay (Max O’Leary, Daniel Littler, Max Green & Benjamin Williams)

A huge congratulations to all competitors and a special thank you to the wonderful school, parent and Swimming Tasmania volunteers who helped to make the carnival run so smoothly.

All swimmers will now be preparing for the SATIS Swimming Carnival which is scheduled for Wednesday 25th March at Hobart Aquatic Centre.
