Records broken at SSATIS Swimming 2020

One relay and six individual records were broken at the SSATIS Swimming meet held on Wednesday 11 March at the Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre. In the Boys Under 14 50m Freestyle, Tom Rybak from The Hutchins School broke the 26 year old record in a time of 26.66sec. Tom only held the record for a minute before Ethan Jones, St Aloysius dived in and recorded a time of 26.26sec. Ethan also claimed the Boys Under 14 50m Butterfly record in a time of 28.15sec. Ella Chan and Sam Castle, representing The Friends’ School, both broke records in the Under 14 Butterfly and Under 13 Backstroke, respectively. Max Giuliani continued his record breaking streak and broke the Boys Open 100m Freestyle record in a time of 52.93, a record that had stood for 17 years. The final record of the day was the Girls Under 16 Freestyle relay, broken by the St Michael’s Collegiate team.

Schools will now turn their focus to the SATIS meet on Thursday 26 March, where the best swimmers from the South and North will go head to head.
