The 2022 NSATIS Swimming Carnival was held on Wednesday 9th March at the Launceston Aquatic Centre with just over 250 students competing in a range of individual and relay events.
Session.1 saw Under 13 & Under 14 students take to the pool with some exceptional performances including the breaking of two meet records. The Launceston Church Grammar Under 14 Girls 4×50 metre Medley Relay team of Olivia Heazlewood, Phoebe Tole, Stella Freeman & Abbie King broke the record of 2:19:45 set in 2021 by Scotch Oakburn College by 1.19 seconds, while Abbie King of Grammar backed up her relay effort to break the Under 14 Girls 50 metre Freestyle record of 28:79 set by Ariarne Titmus in 2014 by 0.70 seconds.
Session.2 was the Under 15, 16 & Open competitors turn to hit the water, this session also saw two meet records broken, the first being in the Under 15 Girls 100 metre Freestyle where Taylor Brock of Scotch Oakburn broke Ariarne Titmus’ record of 1:00:81 by just 0.02 seconds. The other record broken during this session was by the Scotch Oakburn U15 Girls 4×50 metre Freestyle relay team consisting of Taylor Brock, Bella Muldoon, Grace Mitchell & Grace Culhane, the girls broke the record which was set by St Patrick’s College in 2021 by 0.09 seconds finishing the race in 2:01:57
