Following a smooth start to summer rosters, March is shaping up to be a huge month for NSATIS,SSATIS and SATIS events. Results from all regional matches and events can be found on the website under each individual sport.
SWIMMING
All schools have conducted their individual Swimming Carnivals and are now busy preparing their representative teams for the ragional and state swimming carnivals. These will be action packed events run in conjuction with volunteer school officials and Swimming Tasmania. Dates are as follows:
NSATIS: Wednesday 15th March @ Launceston Aquatic – first event 10.30 a.m. St Patrick’s College will be hoping they can go back to back to back on a clean sweep of all 7 trophies on offer.
SSATIS: Thursday 16th March @ Hobart Aquatic – first event 10.00 a.m. Nine SSATIS trophies will be presented at the end of competition.
SATIS: Thursday 30th March @ Hobart Aquatic – first event will begin at 10.30 a.m. Warm-up times: Travelling schools 10.00 a.m., home schools 9.30 a.m.
ROWING
Meanwhile Rowing schools have now set their sights on the Head of the River Regatta which will again be held at Lake Barrington International Rowing Course on Saturday 18th March. First event is at 8.30 a.m., with events concluding with the Eights from 3.30 p.m.
Spectators please note the following details pertaining to camping and parking.
- Camping
Camping at the Lake on Friday night will be permitted. There is no charge.Any rowers camping at the lake should be proximate to, and under effective control of their parents. There is to be no camping or use of swags in the rotunda or in the vicinity of the Sam LeCompte Shed. All campers should vacate and have all tents dismantled and packed away by 8.00am. - Vehicle access and Parking:
Please observe the 1-way traffic rules. All vehicles entering are to turn left on arrival at the lake, proceed along in front of the Lodge, and follow parking marshal directions.The lower road area from the Sam LeCompte Shed North is restricted for boat trailers and school rowing utes/tow vehicles and school buses etc.
General spectator parking is NOT available on the grassed area adjacent to the Reeconians Centre and the Sam LeCompte Shed this year. Limited parking is in the treed area towards the rotunda and the flat grassed area.
Disability parking will be available within the restricted area immediately to the left of the restricted access point (opposite the 1750M knoll). Disability permits must be displayed in order to gain access.
There is to be no parking at all in front of the Reeconians Centre or in the area reserved for the Rowing Tasmania Sponsor display.
Supporters will be given temporary access to drop off supplies to school sites and must return to designated parking areas once this has been achieved.
CRICKET
Senior Statewide cricket rosters are in full swing. In the firsts competition, St Patrick’s College and Launceston Church Grammar are the front runners in the race for pinning down a spot in the State Final which will be held over two days on Friday 24th and Saturday 25th March. The Second’s ladder is much closer with all teams in a position to reach the State final which will be held on Saturday 25th March.
TENNIS
Regional Tennis rosters are underway – winners of the finals will compete in State Finals on Tuesday 11th April in the South of the State.
