2022 SATIS Australian Rules Football Finals

Saturday 2nd July saw St Patrick’s College play host to the 2022 SATIS statewide football finals gala day. The early morning fog and frost cleared to a sunny but cool day with minimal wind (perfect conditions for football).

Boys 1st XVIII St Patrick’s College 9.10.64 defeated Guilford Young College 3.2.20 (The first half was a tight low scoring affair with SPC leading by 17 points at half time after a goalless first quarter for both sides. The 3rd quarter was again hotly contested with SPC not able to break free from the GYC pressure . The game broke open in the last quarter with SPC kicking 4 goals to 1 to run out 44 point victors and taking out their first SATIS 1st XVIII premierships since 2017 as well as completing the Boys 1sts & 2nds premiership double for 2022. Cooper Warren kicked 3 goals for SPC while Charlie Moore kicked 2 for GYC).

Girls 1sts Guilford Young College 6.9.45 defeated Scotch Oakburn College 2.1.13 (The Girls 1sts finals also saw a goalless first quarter for both teams. GYC took their opportunities in the 2nd quarter taking a 23 to 0 lead into half time. SOC came out firing in the third quarter and hit the scoreboard with the first 2 goals of the second half but were unable to keep the momentum going as GYC ran out 32 point winners after sharing the 2021 premiership with Marist. Georgia Clark & Bellah Parker kicked 2 goals each for GYC while Ruby Hall & Harriet Bingley were the goalscorers for SOC)

Boys 2nd XVIII St Patrick’s College 15.15.105 defeated Hutchins 3.4.22 (SPC weren’t able to make the most of their early momentum taking only a 10 point lead into the quarter time break depsite having 5 more shots on goal, but by half time through improved efficiency they had opened up a 39 point lead 52 to 13 which grew to 68 points at the final change after a scoreless 3rd quarter for Hutchins, despite the margin Hutchins showed great character and fight in the final quarter but it was to no avail as SPC ran out 83 point winners and recording their 3rd straight statewide 2nd XVIII premiership. For SPC Riley Duniam kicked 6 goals and Codey Plummer 4, while for Hutchins Haidar Mohamad, Archie Stewart & Elliot Stevenson kicked 1 a piece )
